A good semester for life insurance, still driven by the rise of unit-linked units, Actualité/Actu Epargne

Life insurance premiums reached an unprecedented level in the first half of 2022 since 2010 according to figures from France Assureurs: 76.4 billion euros (+0.7 billion euros compared to the 1st half of 2021). Contributions in units of account (UA) continue to gain weight at 31.5 billion euros (+8%) to the detriment of supports in euros which amount to 44.9 billion euros (-3%) . The share of unit-linked contributions thus stands at 41% over the half-year, compared to 39% for the whole of 2021.

A small month of June

By subtracting withdrawals (services) which mainly concern supports in euros, net inflows for the first half of 2022 amount to 12.1 billion euros, 1.8 billion euros higher than that of the first 6 months of the year 2021 despite a month of June in decline. With only 0.6 billion euros, net inflows last month marked a break with previous months when they regularly exceeded 2 billion. We can surely see there some competition from the Livret A and LDDS savings accounts, whose yield will drop to 2% on August 1, against the less profitable euro supports. In June, net outflows still represented 2.6 billion euros on funds in euros, while unit-linked funds posted a positive balance of 3.2 billion euros.

Eurocroissance contracts

France Assureurs specifies that net inflows from Eurocroissance contracts amounted to 736 million euros in the first half of 2022, a level that is still insignificant but still three times higher than that of the first half of 2021 (254 million euros). euros). At the end of June 2022, the outstanding amount of Eurocroissance funds was 5.4 billion euros (+44% over one year) for 351,000 contracts in progress (+19% over one year). In exchange for capital protection that is only guaranteed over a defined horizon of at least 8 years, these Eurocroissance funds aim to outperform traditional euro-denominated life insurance funds.

Outstanding life insurance contracts represented 1.821 billion euros at the end of June 2022, including 41.4 billion euros housed in PERs (3.4 million holders).
