Elon Musk could dispose of shares in SpaceX to finance the takeover of Twitter – Business

Billionaire Elon Musk could sell part of his stake in the space company SpaceX in order to finance the takeover of the social network Twitter.

According to the American newspaper New York Post, citing sources familiar with the matter, shares of SpaceX would thus be sold this week within the framework of a so-called private placement. The one who is also boss of Tesla would be one of the sellers as he is currently seeking funds to finance the takeover of Twitter.

According to the daily, it is a question of the sale of existing shares and not the placement of new securities.

SpaceX could ask for around 70 dollars (67 euros) per share. This would add value to the company by $125 billion. In August last year, it was still valued at 100 billion dollars, after a new funding round.

Elon Musk recently made $44 billion bid for Twitter but, before the weekend, he said that takeover had been “temporarily suspended”.

He first wants more clarity on the number of fake accounts on the social network, of which he questioned the ability to estimate the number. It is therefore possible that he will take over the company for a lower price.
