Elon Musk has planned a new presentation of SpaceX’s Starship rocket next week. It will review the development of its space transport system, which will notably play a key role in the colonization of Mars.
Two years after the last Starship update in 2019, Elon Musk will give an update on his space transportation system. Consisting of the Starship rocket mounted on the Super Heavy launcher, it will land humans on Mars within 10 years. Elon Musk has therefore scheduled a new presentation of Starship next Thursday at 8 p.m. Friday, February 11 at 3 a.m.French time.
Elon Musk will therefore take the opportunity to take stock of the development of Starship. The rocket’s latest SN20 prototype completed its second test on December 29. This was a static ignition test of the rocket engines. The next scheduled test is the long-awaited Starship orbital flight.
Starship’s first orbital flight has been pushed back, but it shouldn’t be long
In November 2021, Elon Musk wanted to launch Starship’s first orbital flight in January 2022. This flight was nevertheless postponed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which must authorize take-off. The US agency will announce its final decision on February 28, 2022 when she was originally supposed to announce it on December 31st.
Starship has been developed in Boca Chica, Texas for a few years. The reusable rocket that can transport men and goods is assembled on the Super Heavy launcher. It is a real monster of power with its 29 Raptor engines necessary for orbital flight. The rocket has passed several take-off and landing tests, but has never been to orbit yet. Starship’s first orbital flight will take off from Texas to land in Hawaii and circle the Earth in 90 minutes.
In addition to announcing the date of the next presentation of StarshipElon Musk said on Twitter that: “ Starship aspires to be the first fully reusable orbital launch vehicle, the holy grail of rocketry. This is the critical breakthrough needed to make life multiplanetary “. The colonization of Mars and the SpaceX lunar base will probably be among the points addressed by Elon Musk next week.
