Latest Microsoft Edge Beta Enables Basic Security Improvements By Default

Early last month, Microsoft Edge 104 rolled out to the beta channel. And now Microsoft has released an updated version which comes to 104.0.1293.44. The update comes with a few tweaks and the usual reliability fixes. A notable change that also comes with this update is that basic security enhancements are now enabled by default.

Here are all the details in the changelog:

Feature updates

  • Improve your security on the web. Improvements made to improve your web security in edge://settings/privacy now include Basic as a new default option. With this option, Microsoft Edge will apply additional security protection to less visited sites. This preserves the user experience for the most popular sites on the web.

For those unfamiliar with this feature, it helps make Microsoft Edge more secure as it disables the just-in-time (JIT) compiler. In turn, this reduces the risk of users being exposed to security breaches by attackers.
